The habagat season has officially ended.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration made the announcement on Monday, Oct. 5, following a gradual shift in the prevailing patterns observed over the past several days.
These include the strengthening of the high pressure system over East Asia, the southward-migrating Intertropical Convergence Zone, and the weakening of winds and decrease in rainfall associated with the southwest monsoon.
With the habagat season officially ended also comes the termination of the rainy season over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas, PAGASA said.
PAGASA said it would continue to monitor the country's weather and climate conditions.
"Meanwhile, the public and all concerned agencies are advised to monitor relevant information regularly," the weather bureau said.
