Taal logged a minor phreatomagmatic eruption on Thursday, Oct. 8, causing ashfall that is expected to affect some lakeshore towns.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the event took place at 6:06 p.m. and lasted for five minutes, based on seismic and camera recordings from the Taal Volcano Network.
A dark plume that rose 4000 meters was monitored following the eruption.
PHIVOLCS said thin ashfall is expected to affect Agoncillo, Lemery, San Nicolas and Taal in Batangas and adjacent areas as a result.
The volcano remains under alert level 1.
