Eight Filipino seafarers affected by recent incidents in the Strait of Hormuz will be repatriated, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday, Oct. 15.
The DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi already facilitated the safe transit of the crew members of MT Kazimah III to Abu Dhabi on Oct. 8.
"The embassy provided airport assistance to support their onward journey and repatriation to the Philippines," the DFA said.
Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ver said "securing their safe passage is the most viable way to bring them home to the families waiting for them."
The DFA did not say when the seafarers would arrive in the Philippines.
"The Embassy's assistance reflects the Philippine Government's continuing commitment to protect the rights, welfare and security of Filipino seafarers, particularly those navigating high-risk maritime routes," the DFA said.
