Taal posted minor eruptions in the last 24 hours, bringing ashfall to some parts of Batangas.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the four short-lived eruptions at the volcano, which remains under alert level 1, took place at the northeastern portion of the Taal main crater.
It said the phreatomagmatic eruptions that occurred at 5:31 p.m. on October 25, and at 8:13 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. on October 26 lasted two to four minutes, producing ashfall brought down by rain over Barangays Banyaga, Agoncillo, Buso-Buso, Gulod, Bugaan West and San Gregorio, Laurel in Batangas.
Sulfurous fumes, PHIVOLCS said, were also reported by the same barangays.
The phreatic eruption earlier today, meanwhile, lasted for one minute and generated a "short billowing plume" above the main crater lake, PHIVOLCS said.
PHIVOLCS reiterated its recommendation for entry into the Permanent Danger Zone, especially the main crater and the Daang Kastila fissure, to be prohibited.
It also advised local government units to continuously prepare for potential impacts of ashfall and volcanic gas in their communities.
"(Department of Science and Technology)-PHIVOLCS maintains close monitoring of Taal Volcano and any new development will be communicated to all concerned stakeholders," it said.
