Indonesian rescuers are searching for 129 people still missing three days after the Virgo Transport 8 capsized in the Java Sea during bad weather. The vessel was carrying 243 people from Surabaya to Banjarmasin when it went missing early Sunday. At least six people have died, while 108 have been rescued.
Rough seas, with waves reaching up to 2.5 meters, have prevented underwater searches. Authorities deployed around 1,100 personnel, 17 ships and 10 aircraft and helicopters, while specialist divers and underwater equipment are on standby if conditions improve.
The capsized vessel has been located at a depth of about 30 meters, and authorities are considering bringing it to the surface as rescuers continue to hope for survivors.
