Pakistani airstrikes killed at least three people in Afghanistan on Monday, September 21, according to Afghan officials, raising fears of renewed tensions between the neighboring countries after nearly three months of relative calm.
Afghan officials said a house in Kunar province was hit, killing three members of one family and injuring four others.
Two locations in Paktika province were also reportedly struck, but no casualties were reported there. Pakistan’s military did not immediately comment on the strikes.
The attack follows a series of deadly militant incidents in Pakistan near the Afghan border. Islamabad has repeatedly accused Afghanistan of harboring militants responsible for cross-border attacks, an allegation denied by the Taliban government.
