France’s growing debt and political deadlock are putting pressure on its economy and could create wider financial risks across Europe, economist Veronique Riches-Flores warned.
She said businesses and households are struggling with rising energy costs, weaker purchasing power and higher borrowing expenses.
Political divisions and the government’s lack of a parliamentary majority have also made it harder to pursue long-term economic plans.
Riches-Flores warned that rising borrowing costs in France and other European countries could worsen financial instability across the region.
