Forty-five Overseas Filipino Workers were recently repatriated from Saudi Arabia amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, the Department of Migrant Workers said on Friday, Oct. 30.
The DMW said the 45 OFWs together with five dependents arrived in the Ninoy Aquino International Terminal 3 on Thursday, Oct 29, via Gulf Air Flight GF154.
The DMW said the 45 OFWs and their dependents were given financial and medical assistance, and food upon arrival.
It said they were also provided transport so they could return to their respective provinces.
According to the DMW, the assistance is a SAVING LIVES component of the Unified Package for Livelihood, Industry, Food, Transport initiative of the government.
With this development, the DMW said a total of 512 OFWs and their dependents have already been repatriated by the government from Oct. 19 to present.
It was unclear whether the figure represents OFWs repatriated solely from Saudi Arabia or from other countries as well.
