The Department of Transportation (DOTr), together with several government agencies, continues to provide Libreng Sakay services to assist commuters affected by the transport strike in some areas. The initiative follows the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure the public has access to safe and reliable transportation.
Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez said government vehicle assets have been deployed to help passengers, with support from the Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Energy, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Economy, Planning, and Development, Department of Labor and Employment, and participating local government units.
The free ride program operates from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., covering routes including Welcome Rotonda–Fairview, Recto–Cubao via Nagtahan, Quiapo–Cubao via E. Rodriguez, Quiapo–Fairview, Kalentong–Pasig Palengke, and PITX–Lawton, including return trips.
