U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to nominate Hung Cao as the next Secretary of the Navy, praising the acting Navy chief as a “true warrior” capable of leading the country’s naval forces.
In a post on Truth Social on Tuesday, September 1, Trump urged the Senate to promptly confirm Cao, saying he has already demonstrated his ability during his four months serving in the role.
Trump said Cao would help ensure that the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps remain among the world’s strongest military forces.
Cao previously appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee and has taken part in official Navy engagements since assuming the acting position. His nomination will require confirmation by the U.S. Senate before he can formally assume the post.
