Details and photos of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro are among files posted on the dark web.
That’s according to a source and documents seen by Reuters.
The material is reportedly part of files posted by a ransomware group that stole data from Apple supplier Tata Electronics.
The exposure could threaten the Indian firm’s relationship with the U.S. giant, which fiercely protects its sensitive product information.
Documents reviewed by Reuters show details of parts including the new phone’s main circuit board, batteries and cameras.
It’s all an embarrassment for Tata, which has been emerging as one of the U.S. company’s biggest manufacturing partners outside China.
The partnership is a cornerstone of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s drive to make the country an electronics powerhouse.
It also comes at an awkward time for Apple, which has recently had to raise prices for many products due to soaring costs for chips.
The firm is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro and related models in September.
In all, the Tata leak involves more than 200,000 files.
They also include purported details on parts for EV-maker Tesla, and documents relating to chipmakers TSMC and Qualcomm.
There was no immediate comment on the latest reports from Apple or Tata.
