The Visayas grid was placed under red and yellow alerts on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said the red alert, which is issued when power supply is not enough to meet consumer demand, was hoisted from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The yellow alert was raised from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will be in effect from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid's contingency requirement.
According to the NGCP, the unavailability of Visayas' large coal plants TVI 1, TVI2 and KSPC 1, and the limited power imports from Mindanao because of the planned outages of GNPK 4 and TSI 2 contributed to the declaration of the alerts.
Available capacity was 2362 MW when NGCP made the announcement while peak demand was at 2548 MW.
