US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday, October 28, that further US strikes against Iran remain possible after the November 3 midterm elections. Asked whether Washington would launch more attacks, Trump replied that “anything’s possible,” but did not confirm any plans.
Trump claimed the US was in a strong position in the conflict and said Iran wanted to negotiate a deal. Meanwhile, the US military has spent more than $47 billion on the war, according to Pentagon figures obtained by Reuters. The rising cost of the conflict has become a concern for Republicans ahead of the elections, which will determine control of Congress.
Trump also said nuclear disarmament could be discussed during his expected meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his upcoming Asia tour. However, he acknowledged that reaching an agreement would be difficult because several countries possess nuclear weapons.
