Three people have died in a suspected stabbing and arson incident in Gifu, western Japan.
The incident occurred at a cake shop and attached residence in the town of Motosu on Saturday (September 5).
Local media reported that a person inside the building phoned emergency services at around 9 p.m. local time (12 p.m. GMT) on Saturday, saying somebody had been stabbed, gasoline poured and a fire started.
Two people were found dead at the scene while a third died later in hospital, Japanese broadcaster NHK reported. A further two people, including the shop’s 66 year-old owner, are receiving medical treatment, NHK said.
