MOSCOW — Russian President Vladimir Putin met with U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on Saturday to initiate high-level talks aimed at resolving the war in Ukraine.
During the meeting, President Putin underscored the value of maintaining direct communication between Moscow and Washington, noting that Russia finds working with the U.S. delegation both convenient and constructive.
Witkoff conveyed warm wishes from U.S. President Donald Trump and expressed appreciation for a ceasefire maintained during the delegation’s stay in Russia.
In turn, Putin assured the envoys that Moscow would take all necessary measures to guarantee the security and safety of the American mediating team throughout the ongoing diplomatic efforts.
