Thousands of residents remained in evacuation centres in Bangkok on September 28 as severe flooding continued across parts of the Thai capital.
Authorities said more than 80,000 people in flooded communities were unable to leave their homes, while at least 5,901 residents had moved to 234 evacuation centres.
Floods have affected 41 provinces, killed at least eight people, and disrupted more than 580,000 homes since September 16.
Economists estimate the floods could cause at least 11 billion baht, or about $327 million, in economic losses, with damage expected to rise if conditions persist. In Rayong province, authorities ordered further evacuations after two reservoirs exceeded capacity, while relief teams continued providing food and assistance to affected communities.
