(REUTERS) Footage released on Thursday (July 16) purported to show Iranian drone strikes targeting communication systems and fuel tanks at the Al Azraq U.S. Air Base in Jordan.
Reuters could not verify the location or date of the video. No older version of the footage was found posted online before July 16. The targets of the drones also could not be verified.
Iran's army said on Thursday it targeted the Al Azraq Air Base in Jordan with ballistic missiles, while Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they had destroyed the satellite communications centre and early warning radar at the Ali Al Salem Air Base, as well as a U.S. military pier in the Al Shuaiba area of Kuwait.
The U.S. launched a fifth night of attacks on Wednesday (July 15) and reimposed a naval blockade of Iran's ports, which Washington says is aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz, closed by Iran last Saturday (July 11) after a fragile truce collapsed.
