Pinaalalahanan ni presiding officer Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero ang mga prosecutor na pangunahing tungkulin nila ang tiyaking makamit ang hustisya at hindi lamang ang mag-convict sa impeachment trial.
Binigyang-diin ni Escudero na ang layunin ng prosecution ay dapat ang makatarungang resolusyon ng kaso, hindi ang pagkapanalo sa anumang paraan.
Aniya:
“The primary duty of a public prosecutor is not to convict but to see to it that justice is done. The prosecution’s object, therefore, must be the just resolution of the case, not victory at all costs.”
