MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is completing the acquisition of 32 S-70i Black Hawk helicopters with the arrival and turnover of the final seven units on Wednesday, August 26.
The helicopters were purchased from Polish aircraft manufacturer PZL Mielec as part of the government's ongoing program to upgrade the country's military capabilities.
The Black Hawks will be used for various missions, including transporting troops and personnel, search and rescue operations, medical evacuations, and humanitarian assistance during disasters.
Their ability to carry people and supplies also gives the military additional support during emergencies, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach by land.
The completion of the 32-helicopter acquisition is part of the Philippines' broader effort to modernize the Armed Forces and improve its ability to respond to both security threats and natural disasters.
The additional aircraft are expected to strengthen the PAF's airlift capabilities across the country's many islands.
