WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. President Donald Trump said he believes the war with Iran could end "pretty soon," saying he does not think Tehran can sustain the conflict much longer.
Speaking at the White House on Thursday, Trump said his administration remains involved in negotiations and expressed optimism that a resolution could come in the near future.
Trump also addressed concerns over U.S. weapons stockpiles, saying the military has ample supplies of certain munitions while acknowledging tighter inventories of others. He added that defense manufacturers are expanding production, including facilities for Patriot and Tomahawk missile systems, to strengthen the country's military readiness. Reuters previously reported that the U.S. Army had significantly depleted its stockpile of precision long-range missiles during the five-month conflict with Iran.
