A new global poll shows growing trust in international institutions and continued support for cooperation among countries, while respondents expressed less comfort with the United States and China taking leading roles in world affairs.
The Rockefeller Foundation-commissioned survey of more than 35,000 people across 34 countries found that 57% supported international cooperation on global challenges even when it requires compromises on some national interests. Meanwhile, 39% were comfortable with the U.S. taking a global leadership role and 37% with China.
Trust in several international institutions also increased from last year. The World Health Organization rose to 69% from 61%, while trust in the United Nations climbed to 62% from 58%.
The World Bank, International Monetary Fund and International Criminal Court also recorded increases.
