The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines placed the Visayas grid under yellow alert on Sunday, August 9.
The NGCP said the alert would be in effect from 6 pm to 8 pm.
It said the increase in demand forecast for 7-8PM by 110 MW contributed to the decision to put the grid under the alert.
Available capacity is at 2,378 MW while peak demand is at 2,203 MW.
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement, the NGCP said.
