A concept animation released by U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy offers a glimpse of a proposed $22 billion transformation of Washington Dulles International Airport.
The visualization highlights plans for modern passenger terminals, newly designed concourses, and expanded airport facilities aimed at improving capacity and the overall travel experience at the region's primary international airport.
The redevelopment proposal, announced by President Donald Trump, calls for approximately 5 million square feet of new and upgraded airport space while retaining the airport's iconic main terminal, originally designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen. If approved, the project would be financed mainly through municipal bonds issued by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, the agency responsible for operating Dulles under a lease authorized by the U.S. Congress.
