Signal No. 2 has been raised over some parts of Luzon as "Maymay" intensified into a tropical storm on Wednesday morning.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the following areas are under that tropical cyclone wind signal:
central and southern portions of Ilocos Sur (Gregorio del Pilar, Magsingal, San Esteban, Banayoyo, Cervantes, Burgos, City of Candon, Santa Lucia, Santiago, San Vicente, Santa Catalina, Lidlidda, Nagbukel, Suyo, Sigay, San Ildefonso, Galimuyod, Quirino, City of Vigan, San Emilio, Caoayan, Alilem, San Juan, Santa, Bantay, Santo Domingo, Sugpon, Tagudin, Santa Cruz, Santa Maria, Narvacan, Salcedo)
the northern and central portions of La Union (Luna, Caba, Santol, Bauang, City of San Fernando, San Juan, Bagulin, Aringay, Bangar, San Gabriel, Burgos, Naguilian, Bacnotan, Sudipen, Balaoan)

PAGASA said the center of Tropical Storm "Maymay" was estimated 170 km west northwest of Bacnotan, La Union.
The tropical cyclone is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and has a gustiness of up to 80 km/h.
"Maymay" is moving southeastward slowly.
PAGASA said the southwest monsoon and the periphery of the tropical storm will also bring strong to gale-force gusts in most of Luzon and Visayas, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Misamis Occidental, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Sarangani, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental today, and in most of the country tomorrow and Friday.
A gale warning is in effect over the western seaboard of Northern Luzon.
Based on PAGASA's forecast, "Maymay" will move generally eastward and may make landfall over Ilocos Sur or La Union by this afternoon or evening.
"Afterwards, it will traverse the landmass of Northern and Central Luzon until tomorrow," the weather bureau said.
