(REUTERS) A Malaysian pilot was arrested last week after being accused of attempting to smuggle 26 kilogrammes of MDMA into Jakarta after arriving from a flight from Kuala Lumpur, CCTV footage released by Indonesian customs on Monday (August 3) showed.
The pilot is seen collecting a bag and moving through the terminal before customs went through his trolley bags, according to surveillance video from the Direktorat Jenderal Bea dan Cukai Soekarno-Hatta (Soekarno Hatta airport's Directorate General of Customs and Excise).
The man, a 39-year-old identified by the initials MS, had just flown a Malaysia Airlines aircraft from the Malaysian capital, customs officials said.
The pilot had been under the influence of cocaine and methamphetamine after a urine test, authorities said, adding Indonesia and Malaysian authorities are in communication over the case.
Indonesia has strict drug laws and in 2015 executed two Australians in the Bali Nine drug ring for attempting to smuggle heroin out of the resort island of Bali.
