(REUTERS) Japan vowed deeper cooperation with ASEAN countries on regional security, technology, and disaster response, during an opening statement on Wednesday (July 22) in an ASEAN post-ministerial conference in Manila.
Foreign minister Toshimitsu Motegi said that the free and open international order based on the rule of law built by cooperation between Japan and ASEAN is currently facing a wide range of challenges.
Motegi is in attendance for the ASEAN-related Foreign Ministers’ meetings until Friday (July 24).
