Chinese Defence Minister Dong Jun urged countries to avoid provocative actions and remain alert to what he described as the resurgence of militarism and historical revisionism, as he addressed the Beijing Xiangshan Forum on Wednesday, September 16.
Dong said the world had reached a “fragile moment” and called for a more equal approach to resolving international tensions. While he did not directly name the United States, Japan or other regional powers, his remarks came amid heightened tensions involving Taiwan and the disputed South China Sea.
Around 2,000 military officers, diplomats and academics from dozens of countries are attending the three-day security forum.
The gathering also comes as China expands its military diplomacy through bilateral exercises and other defence engagements.
