U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Manila on Thursday (July 23).
The talks took place on the sidelines of ASEAN meetings in the Philippine capital.
Rubio said he would discuss the Ukraine war with his Russian counterpart, adding that Washington was looking to play a constructive role in ending it.
Earlier, Rubio attended the security-focused ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila, where ministers were expected to issue calls for a peaceful settlement after renewed and intensifying hostilities in the Middle East.
