Classes at all levels and government work are suspended in some parts of the country due to the continued heavy rainfall brought by Tropical Storm "Maymay" and the southwest monsoon.
According to Memorandum Circular No. 2 signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, the following areas are covered by the suspension:
National Capital Region
La Union
Ilocos Sur
Benguet
Pangasinan
Abra
Zambales
Kalinga
Mountain Province
Apayao
Ilocos Norte
Ifugao
Nueva Vizcaya
Tarlac
Nueva Ecija
Bataan
Pampanga
Bulacan
Rizal
Cavite
Batangas
Laguna
Occidental Mindoro
The memo said other local government units may also implement a localized suspension of classes and government work.
The suspension of work of private companies, meanwhile, is left to the discretion of their respective administrators.
"Agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or performance of other vital services are hereby directed to continue their operations and render the necessary services," the memo said.
