Four Philippine-registered vessels have been recently given safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz amid the Middle Eastern conflict, the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The DFA said with MV Lyng Trader, MV Western Doncaster, MV Vivian Trader, and MV Eva Fuji traversing safely between June 24 and July 1, their 81 Filipino crew members are also safe.
The DFA said most have resumed their seafaring duties while others have returned to their families.
"The Department recognizes the critical role of the United Nations and the International Maritime Organization in safeguarding civilian shipping and seafarers and in establishing the evacuation framework that has, to date, facilitated the safe passage of 136 vessels and approximately 2900 seafarers out of the conflict area," the DFA said.
The DFA said, at present, some seafarers remain stranded in the region following the suspension of evacuation operations after the end of the temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
"The DFA continues to closely monitor the situation and remains committed to ensuring their safety and eventual passage home," it added.
