A 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit Batanes on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake struck at 12:22 p.m.
Its epicenter was 144 km northwest of Itbayat.
The depth of focus was 10 km.
PHIVOLCS said the following instrumental intensities were reported:

No damage to property was reported but aftershocks were expected.
