Tropical Depression "Neneng" maintained its strength on Tuesday, August 18, as it moved westward overthe sea east of Batanes.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the center of the tropical depression was estimated 745 km east of Itbayat, Batanes.
"Neneng" is packing maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and has a gustiness of up to 55 km/h.
It is moving westward at 25 km/h.
While no wind signal is currently hoisted, PAGASA said the enhanced southwest monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over most of the country today.
Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region will experience the same conditions tomorrow until Thursday.
PAGASA said "Neneng" will continue moving generally west northwestward and may make landfall over the eastern coast of Taiwan by Thursday.
"It is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass," PAGASA said.
