MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on Wednesday after the Sandiganbayan Third Division issued a commitment order in connection with his plunder case and alleged violation of Presidential Decree No. 46. Marcoleta was received at the Quezon City Jail–Male Dormitory at 10:49 a.m., where he will remain while court proceedings continue.
The BJMP said the senator will undergo the same detention procedures and be subject to the same regulations as other Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). Jail officials also stressed that Marcoleta will not receive any special treatment during his detention as his case moves forward before the anti-graft court.
