Firefighters battled multiple fires in Kyiv on Thursday, October 22, after Russian strikes hit Ukraine’s capital, damaging buildings and injuring 15 people, according to local authorities.
The attacks also damaged subway infrastructure on the Southern Bridge over the Dnipro River, prompting authorities to restrict traffic in the area. The strikes followed another attack on Wednesday evening that wounded six people.
The latest assault came despite renewed efforts by the United States to help end the war. US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this week.
