MOSCOW, Russia — A U.S. Air Force military transport plane landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport on Tuesday, August 25, according to flight-tracking data.
The Boeing C-17A Globemaster III, with U.S. tail number 07-7181, flew from Riga, Latvia, to Moscow. Reuters verified the aircraft and the location using flight data and details visible in video footage. It remains unclear whether the plane was carrying passengers, cargo or U.S. officials.
The flight comes as U.S.-Russia negotiations over the war in Ukraine have slowed. The Kremlin said it had no information about the aircraft.
A similar U.S.-registered flight to Russia was recorded in January, when U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner traveled to Moscow for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
