An AirAsia Philippines flight bound for the Philippines on Monday, Aug. 17, had to be temporarily diverted to Clark International Airport due to adverse weather conditions in the National Capital Region.
In a statement, the airline said that the decision to divert Flight Z2 823 that departed from Da Nang International Airport (DAD) "was made with the safety of our guests and crew as our top priority."
The airline said upon arrival in Clark, the guests were assisted at the boarding gate.
Two guests who required medical attention were also attended to by the airport medical team, AirAsia Philippines said.
"We understand the inconvenience this has caused our guests. However, given the prevailing weather conditions, safety remains our priority," the airline said.
It said "necessary operational processes and coordination must also be completed before the flight can continue to Manila."
"AirAsia Philippines is coordinating with relevant authorities on the necessary flight clearances, permits, and gate arrangements. Flight arrangements and the estimated departure time have been communicated to affected guests and remain subject to operational and weather conditions," it said.
"We thank our guests for their patience and understanding as we work to safely bring them to Manila," it added.
