Filipino creativity and storytelling took center stage at Puregold CinePanalo 2026, as outstanding full-length films and student short films were recognized for their exceptional performances, compelling narratives, and artistic vision.
The annual film competition once again highlighted the talent of Filipino filmmakers, actors, and emerging storytellers, providing a platform for stories that reflect the experiences, imagination, and perspectives of Filipinos.

Taking home top honors was Mono No Aware, which stars singer-songwriter Juan Karlos. Aside from playing the lead role, Juan Karlos was also among the film’s co-producers.
The film emerged as one of the biggest winners of the competition, earning multiple recognitions and further establishing its impact among this year’s entries.

Meanwhile, Apol of My AI also earned recognition from the jury. The film stars young actor Zion Cruz, veteran actress, dancer, and performer Rochelle Pangilinan, and seasoned actor Zanjoe Marudo.
Marudo also received an acting award for his performance, adding another accolade to the film’s achievements.
Another film that stood out was Ian Pangilinan’s animation-reality project, which also brought home several awards. One of its recognitions was for Best Story, highlighting the film’s creative approach to storytelling.
Its success also underscored the growing space for animation and innovative visual storytelling in local film competitions, proving that animated narratives can connect with audiences while offering fresh ways of telling Filipino stories.
The celebration also recognized the performances of actors who brought these stories to life.

Xyrille Manabat was named Best Actress for her performance in Stuck on You, earning praise for her portrayal and contribution to the film.

Beyond the full-length films, the student short film category also proved to be a major highlight of this year’s competition.
The entries showcased the creativity, originality, and passion of young Filipino filmmakers, demonstrating that the next generation of storytellers already possesses the talent and vision to make an impact in the local film industry.
