Six Filipinos aboard the Liberia-flagged oil tanker recently hit by projectiles as it traversed the Strait of Hormuz are now in the Philippines.
The Department of Migrant Workers said the Filipino crew members of M/V Al Bahyah arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport 3 on Monday, July 27, via Qatar Airways Flight QR934.
They were welcomed by representatives of the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), who, the DMW said, provided financial assistance.
The DMW said the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) Medical Team also conducted an initial medical assessment of the seafarers, who were later received by representatives of their licensed agency, BSM Crew Service Centre Philippines Inc.
"The DMW continues to remind licensed manning agencies and their accredited principals to strictly observe all safety measures and comply with existing directives to ensure the safety and welfare of Filipino seafarers transiting high-risk maritime areas, including the Strait of Hormuz," the department added.
The vessel carrying the six Filipino crew members was transiting the Strait of Hormuz in the early hours of July 14 when it was hit by the projectiles.
Reports said one seafarer was killed and the vessel sustained significant damage.
All six Filipino seafarers, however, were safely rescued.
Of the six Filipinos, five were unharmed while one had sustained a minor injury.
