The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has given Reddit and Discord 24 hours to establish a presence in the Philippines, including the designation of a local representative who can coordinate with authorities.
The platforms were also asked to explain their existing safety and age-verification measures.
The directive comes as Philippine authorities intensify efforts to address online content linked to violence and the exploitation of minors.
The CICC said having local representatives would make digital platforms more accessible and accountable when authorities need assistance in addressing potential online threats.
Neither Reddit nor Discord has been banned nationwide.
The CICC said failure to comply with the directive could lead authorities to restrict their operations or block access to the platforms in the Philippines.
