KUMAMOTO, Japan — Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) living in areas affected by the magnitude 7.1 earthquake in Japan received assistance through a humanitarian outreach program conducted by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ).
The earthquake, which struck with its epicenter in Kumamoto Prefecture, left many residents struggling to secure basic necessities in the aftermath.
Through the FYM Foundation, the Iglesia Ni Cristo organized a Care for Humanity outreach program in two of the areas hardest hit by the disaster — Yatsushiro City and Kumamoto City.
Care packages containing essential supplies were distributed to affected residents, including Filipino workers living in the area.
The relief effort was led by Brother Manny Benedicto, District Supervising Minister of Nagoya, Japan, who oversaw the distribution of assistance to those affected by the earthquake.
The outreach reflects the Iglesia Ni Cristo's continuing humanitarian efforts to provide support to communities facing hardship and to extend assistance to those in need, regardless of nationality or background.
