DISASTER RESPONSE TEAM NG ARMY KUMILOS PARA SA `SAGIP KALIKASAN ORIENTAL MINDORO’

Apat na disaster response team ng Philippine Army (PA) ang lumusob na sa karagatan ng Oriental Mindoro upang tumulong sa Office of Civil Defense-Region 4B sa ginagawang clean-up drive para sa `Sagip Kalikasan Oriental Mindoro.’ Ayon kay Lt.Col. Hector A. Estolas, hepe ng Public Affairs Office (PAO) ng 2nd Infantry Division (ID) ng Philippine Army (PA), umabot na sa 13,755 pamilya mula sa mga munisipalidad ng Pola, Gloria, Naujan, Bansud, Bongabong, Roxas, Mansalay at Bulalacao; Caluya sa Antique, Taytay sa Palawan at Calapan City ang apektado ng oil spill. Sinabi ni Estolas na noong March 4, pinakilos ng 203rd Infantry Brigade ang 203rd Task Group sa pamamagitan ng Joint Task Force Katagalugan para pangunahan ang “Sagip Kalikasan Oriental Mindoro.” Kasama rito ang iba’t ibang disaster response team mula sa 76th Infantry Battalion, 68th Infantry Battalion, 4th Infantry Battalion, at Alpha Company ng 2nd Civil-Military Operations Battalion. Ang mga tropa ang magsisilbing reinforcement ng OCD Region 4B, Philippine Coast Guard, at mga sangay ng Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices, gayundin ng Oriental Mindoro LGUs, upang pagtulungan na aksyunan ang lumalalang pinsala na dulot ng oil spill sa lugar. “Together with our partner agencies and LGUs, we have been continuously supporting the Office of the Civil Defense Region 4B in their efforts to immediately address the oil spill and provide assistance to our kababayans as they go through these tough times," pahayag ni 2ID Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong. Matatandaan na ang oil spill ay nagmula at tumagas sa lumubog na MT Princess Empress na pag-aari ng RDC Reield Marine Services sa katubigan ng Naujan noong February 28, 2023. Ang barko ay may karga na 900,000 litro ng industrial fuel oil.
