Suportado ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang panukalang batas sa Kamara na naglalayong patawan ng mas malaking buwis ang mga luxury goods. Inihain sa Kamara ni Albay 2nd District Representative Joey Salceda ang panukala na patawan ng "wealth taxes" ang mga tinatawag na “super-rich” individuals upang matugunan ang "economic inequality." Sa isang panayam, sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos na ang kasalukuyang buwis na ipinapataw sa mga luxury goods ay "only covers very specific items." Ayon kay Salceda, principal author ng House Bill No. 6993, ang gobyerno ay maaaring makakolekta ng "P15.5 billion annually if the luxury taxes are raised from 20 percent to 25 percent." Kabilang sa mga non-essential goods na ito ang "luxury watches, luxury cars, private jets, sale of residential properties above P100 million, beverages priced at over P20,000 and leather goods costing above P50,000."
