Nais ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na i-rationalize ang promotion system sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Sinabi ito ni Pangulong Marcos sa isang panayam matapos ang 2023 Tax Campaign kickoff ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) sa Pasay City. “‘Yung promotion, SOP na ‘yan. That’s why we did what we did earlier to normalize and I used the word rationalize ‘yung promotions system na ginawa sa AFP,” paliwanag ni Marcos. “So this is just another part of that ongoing process. We normalize the process of promotion already and naibalik natin sa dati," dagdag na pahayag ng Pangulo. Noong Lunes, pinangunahan ni Pangulong Marcos ang oath-taking ceremony ng mga newly promoted generals at flag officers ng AFP sa Malacañang. Sa kanyang talumpati, hinikayat ni Marcos ang AFP na “keep up with the times" at "be more agile in fostering partnerships as the global situation becomes more and more complicated.” “We, therefore, have to be more agile in our responses not only in the military area but also in diplomacy, also in geopolitical negotiations, and in our partnerships that we foster with our friends and allies around the world,” ayon sa Pangulo.
